Learning From Your Mistakes Makes You A Better Person

The short story called, “Thank you Ma’am” by Langston Hughes makes me realize that learning from your mistakes makes you a better person. Some might never thought about their mistakes, they learn by experiencing mistakes by themselves, or from other people. However, not educated well people, such as an orphan can’t think about their mistakes, because they have no parents or people around them. In this story it says, ‘When a boy ran up behind her and tried to snatch her purse”. In this part, we can know about the boy is going to cause problems also as his mistake. However, the woman called Luella was generous that she treated him with foods and sympathy feelings. She cared of him a lot. The result of effort turns into make Roger in a better person who won't steal other's again.

This image is from the movie called, "Make a difference movie". We can realize that there was a quote about the teacher. It says, "Like most teachers, she looked her students and said that she loved them all the same." However it mentioned that it was impossible to happen. They start the movie with a boy called Teddy Stallard. The teacher Ms. Thompson marked with broad red pen and crossed out Teddy’s paper with X and writes a big F. I can feel that this is not good at all. Ms Thompson taught the students that she record that the entire student past score and take off Teddy's. However, Ms. Thompson was surprised about Teddy's past records. He was unfortunate kid that his mother's death makes him very hard and his father won't interest what he did. I think she would educate Teddy more than other students. He has very hard times, and he doesn't have chances to get educated, but even teacher doesn't have much interest about him, he would get serious problem. Ms. Thompson realized her fault lately, and she started to make friendly and comfortable with Teddy, with using perfume which Teddy's mom had used. During the movie, I knew that she would get such knowledge and some points during the experience of teaching students in the school.

I think the short story called, "Thank you Ma'am", and the film called "Make a different Movie" fits very well together. The both tell me learning from your mistakes makes you a better person. "Thank you Ma'am" from Langston Hughes was a story of a boy who is orphan was realizing his fault during his experiences. He tries to steal other's wallet, but the victim who is Luella knew that he is less educated than others. So she taught him to never act stealing others. The film was a story between teacher who is educating students and the student named "Teddy". Teddy's mom was dead and his father was not interested at him. Teddy was having a hard time even though he is trying to do best. However Ms. Thompson who is teacher was educating roughly and at last, she realizes Teddy's the past, and started to give more efforts to him. So, I think the people are learning from their fault or mistakes to grown up as a great person. Everyone would have a lesson at least from 1 mistake.

One’s True Identity Is Inherently Evil

One’s true identity is inherently evil is a dominant theme in Roald Dahl's short story, "Lamb to the Slaughter." The protagonist, Mary Maloney, was 'perfect' house wife for her husband. It is from when her husband seeks a divorce to her and soon, she goes into the kitchen to prepare their supper and pulls a large frozen leg of lamb from the deep freeze. She carries lamb into the living room and without warning; she slammed her husband over the head with it. As she looks at Patrick lying dead on the floor, she slowly begins to come back to her senses. Immediately she realizes the ramifications of what she has done. Not wanting her unborn child to suffer as a result of her crime, she begins planning her alibi. She places the leg of lamb in a pan in the oven and went down to the corner grocery to get some food for "Patrick's dinner". When she went to the kitchen to prepare meat for her husband and she found a frozen lamb. Probably there was an unconscious conflict in her mind whether kill her husband or not. Mary’s true identity was shown with violent reaction, which connected with murder. It shows her true identity were evil and amazed readers being contrary to one’s expectation.

The one's identities were mentioned that it was evil once more in technology world. In this news article, “Identity 'at risk' on Facebook”, the personal details of Facebook user’s were stolen. This popular social networking site allows users adding applications to their profile. However, malicious program and other harmless application, could harvest user’s personal data. Facebook is a lovely site, that allowing friends post photos, sharing fun stories and keeping a great friendship. If we keeps out details on profile private from non-friends, we could be stolen our identity. They mentioned about ‘Mining data’, which evil data mining application is called Miner. It could be a game, a test, or a joke. These problems seem to be occurring with security. Facebook has 30 security application servers, that it is hard to check each of them. So, they suggest to protecting yourself from applications skimming information about me, and my friends, erase all the applications in the future.

Many people are causing problems to other victims; they might make these serious problems in global, that they can’t recognize what they did. It is coming out from their true identity. In case of Mary Maloney, author wrote a revenge fantasy to inform that if you lost your love to the lover, only revenge will return. Mary was devoted by her husband until Patrick wanted a divorce. After she kills him and began thinking of her alibi, I am sure that her identity was evil. Innocent cannot be decided by a person’s actions or words. Even though who seem completely innocent may actually be the guilty.
